You need as much ballast as possible to stop you from floating away ... I've got more stuff, more clutter, more detail in here, because at the moment I am in danger of falling off the edge.

This made me laugh too... i feel that stuff stuff and more stuff can push you over the edge..
The collective consciousness often agrees. It's a bit like when you are about to get a dog or have a baby there seems to be lots of people around you who are too. Alot of the blogs on my reader are talking about the need to simplify, reduce stuff.

It seems our family is going to get a crash corse in minimal living. You know how we thought it would be great to pop off to a tropical island with our backpacks. Now we will be doing it in our own town. To be honest it's exciting but a little nerve wrecking too... the people who are living in our house would like it slightly longer than we are actually going for (about 6 weeks longer at either end).

It will be a backpack and a box each for about a month and while still going to school work etc and then down to a backpack. An extended camping trip for the remainder of the school holidays. possibly a rental for a couple of weeks too. plus a little house sitting for a friend with pets... I'm not too sure going to work in a sundress and swimsuit will be the best look... will be fine for the island ...

It certainly will be a case of smaller... smaller... smallest.
